The Story

Haiti is an island once referred to as the pearl of the Antilles (or the pearl of the Caribbean) because of its abundance in gold, pearls, spices and so much more. Now Haiti finds its self in political unrest, economic crisis and on the brink of a civil war.

Our hearts are broken as many of the people who we love and care for are left homeless, hungry, unemployed, unable to receive proper education and with limited access to clean drinking water, health care and other basic needs.

Missionary Impulse is committed to help alleviate some of the suffering and to respond to some basic needs of the people of Haiti. The body of Christ is suffering and we truly believe that the Lord has invited us to play a role in being the hands and feet of Christ while preaching a gospel of hope.

The Need

Our team of missionaries on the ground are working and ministering tirelessly and assessing the best way to help those in need.

After several hurricanes and earth quakes some immediate needs are:

  • Tarps: Which will provide temporary shelter and protection from the elements. Water: With water lines damaged there is an urgent need for clean drinking water. Not having access to clean drinking water will lead to disease and more deaths. Food: With people being displaced from their homes, many do not have access to their food supply as it has been buried under the rubble or is no longer edible as it has been exposed to the elements.

Education:

  • Due to the political unrest and violence many schools in the major cites have been unable to open. in response to this need, Missionary Impulse has opened a school “La Maison des enfants Ecole Prèscolaire (House for Children Montessori School) in the country side of Jonc-Dodin, Haiti

Sustainable Aid:

  • As we strive to help with the urgent needs that are right before us, we are also working hard to set up families and individuals up for success. We are providing financial backing to help people start business, from transportation business, to mom and pop shops, small farms, to thrift stores. All these will help families and individuals not rely on out side aid in order to provide for them selves, and help stimulate the economy.

Evangelistic Efforts:

  • We believe that no matter how much good we do and no matter how many people we help if the Gospel is not preached then all we do is in vain. Jesus is the reason for everything we do it is he who invites us and it is he who sends us out. Missionary Impulse is committed to this mission. We have walked with and discipled many and in doing so many are living a life in full union with Christ and His Church. From sacramental prep, to prayer meeting, to supporting remote Catholic chapels that only have access to a priest a few times a year we are working hard to make sure that the person of Jesus Christ is encountered in all that we do.

The Plan

Funds donated will be sent to our team in Haiti and any purchased will be purchased in Haiti. Doing this stimulates the local economy and saves on the pricy cost of shipping large containers.

We will continue to support the school. Our goal is to eventually get to a point where we can feed our students 2 meals a day Monday-Friday

We will continue to work with families and individuals, provide them with training on how to successfully run a business and give them the support to start that business making them self-sufficient.

We will continue to update you via social media so be sure to follow @missionaryimpulse
